New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Adult Safety Rating Explained
The upcoming sedan achieved a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection, with a score of 31.24 out of 34. During the frontal impact test, the driver and passenger's heads and necks were well protected. However, the driver's chest received only moderate protection. In contrast, the driver and passenger's knees showed good protection. The bodyshell was deemed stable, with the capability to withstand additional loads. The footwell area was also rated as stable.
The Dzire demonstrated good protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis in a side impact test as well. The side pole impact test showed good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis, but only moderate protection for the chest. Additionally, ESC's performance met Global NCAP's standards.
New Maruti Suzuki Dzire: Child Safety Rating Explained
The Dzire received a 4-star rating for child occupant protection, with 39.20 points out of 49. The 3-year-old's child seat was placed forward-facing during the frontal impact evaluation using ISOFIX anchorages and a top tether. It provided full protection to the head and chest, but limited protection to the neck. On the other hand, the 18-month-old child seat was fitted backward facing employing ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. It provided full protection by preventing head exposure during the frontal collision.
During the side impact test, the 18-month-old and three-year-old CRS demonstrated complete protection. In every position, the CRS installation was successful. However, the sedan dropped a few points as it fails to offer the possibility to deactivate the front passenger airbag if a backward-facing CRS is mounted on the front passenger seat.
