In the Indian auto industry, Maruti Suzuki commands a significant market share, with CNG powertrains accounting for a sizable portion of sales volume. The CNG lineup of the company includes the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Ertiga, Eeco, S-Presso, Baleno, Dzire, WagonR, Alto, Fronx, XL6, Grand Vitara, and Celerio. The brand has recently shared a fresh teaser on its official social media handle, hinting at a potential revamp of its CNG portfolio. The brief video shared by Maruti Suzuki focuses on the cars equipped with a CNG powerplant. The cars in the teaser bear the company's S-CNG emblem, which implies they will come with a factory-fitted kit.
New Maruti Suzuki CNG Models: Key Details
Maruti Suzuki refers to its CNG fleet as S-CNG, which is set to receive significant improvements. On its social media platforms, the carmaker has hinted at a revised line of CNG cars that will incorporate new technology. However, the company has not yet disclosed any details regarding the new CNG tech's features and specifications.
The main benefits of CNG are its reduced operating costs and increased fuel efficiency, however, one of the main complaints from owners of CNG vehicles is the lack of boot room. A family planning a road trip with a lot of luggage may find it highly inconvenient since the CNG tank, which is located in the trunk, occupies nearly all of the storage space. Tata was able to solve the boot space problem in their CNG cars last year by adding a new dual-tank configuration.
Initially offered with Altroz, this new CNG setup was eventually made available in Tiago, Tigor, and Punch. Maruti Suzuki is expected to provide a comparable configuration for its revamped line of CNG cars. There is nothing particularly novel about the twin-tank CNG setup. This configuration is already available in the brand's Super Carry LCV with its dual 35-litre CNG tanks positioned along the length of the vehicle. The factory-fitted S-CNG kit from Maruti Suzuki includes a sophisticated injection system that ensures the best possible air-fuel ratio during combustion. This provides advantages such as constant performance and increased fuel efficiency. The company also tweaked the suspension and braking setup to provide maximum performance across a range of terrains.

Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG Incoming?
The new Swift CNG will likely be the company's next major product launch in our market, and the hatch may be the first to receive the new features. Sales of the most recent generation Swift are already off to a great start, and the CNG variant could increase them even more.
Maruti Suzuki registered more than 2.25 lakh reservations as of last month, with 72,000 to 75,000 of the bookings being recorded for CNG vehicles. In FY2024, the CNG range accounted for roughly 32.5% of Maruti Suzuki's overall sales volume.
The manufacturer previously stated that it hopes to sell 6 lakh CNG vehicles in FY2025, up from 4.5 lakh in FY2024 – a year-over-year increase of more than 30%. Switching to CNG cars has emerged as a feasible alternative in small cities as well, thanks to the government's strong push for the fuel's adoption and its increasing availability throughout the nation. Demand is probably going to rise further due to the new features and tech.
