Kia has relaunched the Carnival in India as an updated fourth-gen model. Available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 63.90 lakh, the luxury MPV arrives in the country as a completely built-up (CBU) unit before eventually moving to the completely knocked down (CKD) route. Bookings for the upgraded premium MPV began on September 16, and in just 24 hours, the new Carnival received over 1,822 reservations, marking a new record. Offered in Limousine and Limousine Plus variants, the next-gen offering can be booked with a token amount of Rs 2 lakh. Customers can reserve the car via authorised Kia dealerships across India or the brand's official website. Meanwhile, the company has also introduced the EV9 SUV alongside the Carnival for Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom).

New Kia Carnival: Dimensions and Design
In terms of size, the new Carnival measures 5,155mm in length, 1,995mm in width, and 1,775mm in height, including roof rails, and boasts a wheelbase of 3,090mm. The 2024 Carnival represents a notable shift from the previous-gen model, adopting a striking SUV-inspired design. The front now features a wider, more prominent grille, flanked by vertically stacked LED headlights and unique L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). The car is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels.
Additionally, body cladding along the sides lends the Kia Carnival, a rugged appearance, moving away from its former, more traditional van-like look. At the rear, the model incorporates Kia's signature modern elements with connected LED tail lamps, reflecting the design language seen in the brand's latest models. There are two paint job options: Glacier White Pearl or Fusion Black.
New Kia Carnival: Interior Layout and Features
Inside, the Kia model has a 7-seat configuration arranged in a 2+2+3 layout. The cabin combines modern tech and high-quality materials. The interior theme varies by variant: the base Limousine trim has a dark blue and grey colour scheme, while the Limousine Plus variant adorns a brown and black theme.
When it comes to amenities, the Carnival boasts a 12.3-inch touchscreen that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 11-inch head-up display (HUD), a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, connected car tech, two single-pane electric sunroofs, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, powered and ventilated seats for the first and second rows, electrically operated sliding doors, wireless phone charging, and three-zone climate control.
The new Carnival also has an extensive feature suite with all-wheel disc brakes, front and rear parking brakes, eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ABS with EBD. Furthermore, the Level-2 ADAS package comprises adaptive cruise control, blind spot collision warning, forward collision avoidance, and lane keep assist.
New Kia Carnival: Powertrain Setup
Coming to the mechanical side of things, Kia will provide only one powertrain option in the Indian market. The new Carnival will continue to be powered by the same Smartstream 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, CRDi turbocharged diesel engine, as the previous model. This unit belts out 190bhp of maximum power and 441Nm of peak torque. It comes coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. Meanwhile, the global-spec model is available with a 3.5-litre V6 petrol unit and a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid unit.

New Kia Carnival: Rivals
In our market, the Carnival does not have any direct rivals. However, the luxury MPV will lock horns with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Toyota Innova Hycross, MG Gloster, and the Toyota Fortuner.
