It seems like FCA is planning to launch the Jeep Meridian and the Jeep Compass Trailhawk together. While one will be a seven-seater premium SUV, the other one will be a more off-road focused lifestyle crossover.
When the BS6 emission norms kicked in, Jeep pulled the plug on the Compass Trailhawk and mainly focused on the standard Compass instead. The updated Jeep Compass was launched last year, which sports a new fascia and a rejigged engine. Now, a year later, it seems that Jeep is back with the Trailhawk – the American SUV has already started to tease the upcoming SUV on the social network.
The 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be launched in the coming months and will sport numerous changes over its predecessor. For starters, the styling will be more in line with the current Compass on offer. That said, the new Trailhawk may have chiselled bumpers on both ends for greater approach and departure angles. Also, the rocker panel of the new Compass is expected to be redesigned to offer an improved breakover angle over the standard Compass.
Mechanical components such as the air intake, oil sump, and engine mounts will be raised as well in order to offer an improved clearance underneath. The Trailhawk version of the compass will get beefier underbody protection compared to the standard model as well.
The tyres will be dual-purpose and will feature a relatively higher profile. When the outgoing Compass was launched, it was equipped with an updated KONI suspension setup. Expect a more improved and offroad oriented setup of the same with the upcoming Jeep Compass Trailhawk.
The engine of the 2022 Trailhawk will be the same 2.0-litre turbo-diesel motor found in the Compass. The gearbox will be the nine-speed torque convertor unit as before, but this time we expect Jeep to tune the gearbox response to complement the performance in a better manner. Expect drive modes and terrain response modes as well.
The key element with the Jeep Compass Trailhawk will be its pricing. Like the standard Jeep Compass, the Trailhawk will not be offered in multiple variants – expect two to three variants of the 2022 Compass Trailhawk. This means that the prices are likely to be similar to the Compass’s higher variants or above. Expect the prices to be between Rs 28 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom).
