The brand-new Verna has been launched in India, with prices beginning at Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom). In the mid-size sedan category, the new Verna has several competitors, the closest being the 2023 Honda City. Honda launched the new City in India with prices starting at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The City and the Verna have been vying for the top spot in the compact sedan category for quite some time. The all-new Verna is available with two engine options: a 1.5-litre MPi and 1.5-litre Turbo GDi petrol engine. Customers can pick between a 6-speed manual and an IVT automatic transmission for the MPi petrol engine and between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission for the Turbo GDi petrol unit. The 2023 Honda City, meanwhile, comes equipped with a 1.5-litre VTEC DOHC petrol engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed continuously variable transmission. The hybrid vehicle has a self-charging, two-motor, lithium-ion battery, e-CVT system, and a 1.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine. Neither car has a diesel engine as of yet.

The new Verna is broader and has a longer wheelbase than the 2023 City. Width-wise, the all-new Verna measures 1,765mm
whereas the average width of the new City is 1,748mm. The wheelbase of the 2023 Hyundai Verna is 2,670mm, while that of the 2023 Honda City is 2,600mm.
In terms of length, the City is longer than the Verna. It is also taller than its close rival. The new City is 1,489mm in height and 4,583mm in length. The brand-new Verna, on the other hand, is 4,535mm long and 1,475mm tall. As for the boot area, the Verna tops the City. The Verna's boot area stands at 528 litres, compared to the City's meager 506 litres.

As opposed to this, the new 1.5-litre TGDi engine achieves ARAI-certified mileage of 20km/l (6-speed MT) and 20.60km/l (7-speed DCT). The 2023 Verna's price start at Rs 10.90 lakh and goes up to Rs 17.38 lakh in India. All prices are ex-showroom. The City facelift, on the other hand, has an asking price of Rs 11.49 lakh, reaching up to Rs 20.39 lakh for the top-spec City Hybrid version.
