The facelifts for the Korean twins, the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, were recently launched in the hotly contested compact SUV segment. Notably, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder are other popular models in this segment. A few days ago, we brought you a comparison of the Hyundai Creta facelift and its Kia rival, and now we are back with another comparison. This time, we pit the newly launched model from Hyundai against another of its formidable competitors in the Indian market – the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara – to see how both SUVs differ in terms of mechanical specifications, features, and pricing.

New Hyundai Creta vs Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Spec Comparison: Powertrain
The Creta facelift retains the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine and the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel unit. The former produces 144Nm of peak torque and 113bhp of maximum power, while the latter generates 114bhp peak power and 250Nm maximum torque. Notably, the new addition to the Creta’s engine options is a 1.5-litre turbocharged GDi petrol engine, which puts out 158bhp and 253Nm of peak torque. Transmission options for the facelift model include a six-speed manual, CVT automatic, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, and a six-speed clutch-less manual unit.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine, which is available with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The engine produces 102bhp of maximum power and 136Nm of peak torque. This unit is also available in a CNG variant, which produces reduced outputs of 87bhp and 121.5Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Last but not least, in the mild-hybrid configuration, this mill is only available with AllGrip AWD in the fully equipped Alpha trim level. Besides, the hybrid system comprises a 1.5-litre engine, an electric motor, and an eCVT. The petrol engine produces 91bhp and 122 Nm, while the electric motor develops 79 bhp and 141 Nm.

The automaker has launched the 2024 iteration of the Creta with prices ranging from Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. These prices are introductory and are only valid for a limited period. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, on the other hand, retails between Rs 10.70 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh. All mentioned figures are ex-showroom prices.

The 2024 Creta facelift’s design sets it apart from the Grand Vitara, its Japanese rival. With a square grille, a large skid plate on the front bumper, and squared-out LED headlights, it has a boxier appearance. Other styling elements of the Creta include signature horizon LED positioning lighting and DRLs, an aerodynamic spoiler, a new tailgate, and fresh distinctive connected LED taillamps. The side profile of the car is virtually unaltered, except for newly styled 5-spoke dual-tone alloy wheels.
The Maruti Suzuki SUV sports a big chrome-lined hexagonal grille, three-point LED daytime running lamps, a main headlight cluster positioned on the bumper, a full-width LED light bar on the tailgate, a chrome appliqué on the C-pillar, and a distinct alloy wheel design.

The Creta facelift measures 1,635mm in height, 1,790mm in width, and 4,330mm in length. Its ground clearance and wheelbase are 190mm and 2,610mm, respectively. On the other hand, the Grand Vitara measures 4,345mm in length, 1,795mm in width, and 1,645mm in height and has a ground clearance of 2,600mm.

The new Creta continues to have several noteworthy features, such as dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, a Bose premium sound system with eight speakers, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, an eight-way power driver seat, two integrated 10.25-inch units, a leatherette-wrapped gear shifter, a flat-bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, surround view and blind spot view monitors, and new leatherette seats.
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara also gets a 360-degree camera, along with other features like a fully digital instrument display, ventilated front seats, dual-tone black and brown interior theme, a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HUD, Suzuki Connect telematics, and various drive modes.
