The third-generation Honda Amaze compact sedan is anticipated to make its global debut before the end of 2024. But, with the first exterior shots of the sedan, we can spot smoked taillamps, a reverse camera, and a shark-fin antenna at the rear. Aside from these, the test mule shows three headrests for the rear-seat occupants, while the overall silhouette appears the same as the current version. A larger, free-standing touchscreen compared to a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the existing iteration of the Amaze is expected to find a home in the new Amaze. Other expected bits are a fully digital console as well as six airbags as standard.

The platform that sees duty on the Elevate SUV and the City sedan will underpin the upcoming Amaze, although with some modifications. In comparison to the City sedan (2,600mm) and the Elevate SUV (2,650mm), the third-gen Amaze will be offered with a shorter wheelbase. The Amaze currently has a wheelbase of 2,470mm.

New Honda Amaze: Engine

The powertrain is likely to stay the same as before. Expect a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled to either a CVT automatic or a 5-speed manual transmission under the hood. In the current iteration, this unit produces 90bhp and 110Nm of peak torque. A CNG version is also on the cards.

Honda Amaze: Price, Rivals

The new Amaze is expected to command a higher price than the existing iteration, which is priced between Rs 7.20 lakh and Rs 9.96 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Upon launch, it will renew its rivalry with the Tata Tigor, Hyundai Aura, and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

The Dzire is due for an update in late 2024, probably in October. Expected exterior enhancements include modified front and rear bumpers, refreshed headlamps, and new alloy wheels. The sedan could get a Fronx-inspired cabin, with a single-pane sunroof (first in the category) and a 360-degree camera. Safety-wise, you can expect six airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, traction control, ABS with EBD, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

As far as the powertrain goes, the new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-Series petrol engine, paired with either a manual or an AMT gearbox, is expected to power the updated vehicle, though Maruti Suzuki hasn't confirmed anything yet.
