New spy photos of the India-bound Maruti Suzuki Swift have recently surfaced online. This comes after the debut of the Suzuki Swift debut at the auto show in Japan. The carmaker referred to the model unveiled at the international auto show as merely a concept, even though it seemed almost ready for production. Now, a test mule of the India-spec Swift has been spotted in India, providing an early look at the potential upgrades of the vehicle. The spy images show a lighted symbol on the ORVM, which suggests that the upcoming Swift may feature a blind spot monitor.
There aren't any interior spy pictures available yet. However, the interior of the concept shown at the Japan Mobility Show mirrored that of both the Fronx and Baleno. It's unknown whether the Swift for India will have the same interior. Maruti Suzuki hasn't confirmed any details yet. However, industry reports indicate that the updated India-spec hatchback will go on sale in our market in the second half of next year.

Maruti Suzuki Swift: Recent Spy Images
While the test mule was largely camouflaged, some of its characteristics were apparent. With some refinements over its predecessor, the car seems to retain the essence of the Swift. It features sharper headlamps and taillamps, which seem to have retained the previous configurations, a reworked front and bumper, and a strong shoulder line, which runs the length of the vehicle. Other external features of the vehicle include a revamped grille, new alloy wheels, and more. While no interior images have been revealed so far, the upcoming model is expected to include a larger nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a black-and-white motif, and a revised AC control panel.
Maruti Suzuki Swift: Powertrain
At the recent Japan auto show, the new Z12E 1.2-litre petrol engine, which will power the Swift for the Japanese market, made its debut. It will be available with a CVT transmission and all-wheel drive system. Although the power output of the engine is unknown, rumours suggest that the India-bound Swift will also be powered by this new powertrain. The power, however, will only be sent to the front wheels. It is necessary to note that all these are mere speculation, for the company has not yet revealed any details as yet.
