Aside from readying its new Endeavour SUV for India, Ford is (apparently) working on bringing one of its bestselling pickups to India, the Ranger. And for that reason, the new Ranger and the upcoming Endeavour were spotted together on Indian roads. In terms of design, the model spied in India looks the same as the one that made its global debut in November 2021. While the front end is not visible, the Ranger will likely come with a large radiator grille with the Ford badge, C-shaped LED headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, silver skid plates, and blacked-out fog lamps. In profile, as you can see, the truck has pronounced wheel arches. At the rear, there is a revised tailgate design embellished with the Ranger name. If launched, the current-generation Ford Ranger sold overseas will be completely new for the Indian market.
New Ford Ranger Pickup: Powertrain
Under the hood, the Ford Ranger is equipped with three engine options: a 2.0-litre diesel, a 3.0-litre diesel V6 that also powers the Ford Ranger, and a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and a 10-speed automatic.
Like the Ford Endeavour, the Ranger features a ladder-frame setup. Speaking of the Endeavour, the first spy shots of the India-bound SUV surfaced revealing some significant design details. The new Ford Endeavour is already offered as the Ford Everest in Thailand, Australia, and other international markets.
Other engine options on the SUV include a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel linked to a 6-speed AT with SelectShift and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel mated to a 10-speed AT with SelectShift. The former makes 168bhp and 405Nm of peak torque, while the latter generates 207bhp and 500Nm of torque. In India, the price of the new Ford Endeavour is expected to be analogous to its primary rival, the Toyota Fortuner.
New Ford Ranger Pickup: Rivals
On the other hand, the new Ranger will have rivals in the form of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross and the Toyota Hilux (which gets a disaster management variant in the form of the Rapid Intervention), if Ford plans to launch it in India. The Hilux is priced between Rs 30.41 lakh and Rs 37.89 lakh, while the D-Max falls between Rs 19.50 lakh and Rs 27 lakh. The prices are ex-showroom.
