Ford’s new Endeavour is not just a looker as it is an extremely well rounded vehicle that furthers the benchmark in its segment
Ford has launched its second generation Endeavour in India with prices ranging between Rs. 24.75 lakh and Rs. 29.46 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The new Endeavour has been introduced with a choice of two engine options, a 2.2 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine and a 3.2 litre five cylinder turbocharged diesel unit. The 2.2 version is available with the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox while drive goes to the rear wheels. The 3.2 model comes fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Power output for the Endeavour 2.2 is rated at 158bhp @ 3,200rpm and torque at 385Nm @ 1,600-2,500rpm. Fuel efficiency for the manual model as per ARAI is rated at 14.12 km/l while the automatic is rated at 12.62 km/l.
The more powerful Endeavour 3.2 boasts of power and torque outputs of 197bhp @ 3,000rpm and 470Nm @ 1,750-2,500rpm, respectively. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency of this model is rated at 10.91 km/l. The 3.2 model comes with the Land Rover like Terrain Management System that comes with five driving modes – Normal, Sand, Rock, Low-range and Sand, Mud Grass that allows drivers to choose the appropriate driving mode easily according to terrain,
Ford has launched the Endeavour in a choice of two variants, namely, Trend and Titanium for both 2.2 and 3.2 models. While both variants are rather well equipped with leather upholstery, power adjustable driver’s seat, electric folding ORVMs, rear parking sensors and camera, a 10 speaker double-DIN stereo with SYNC, ABS with EBD and dual front airbags, rain sensing wipers, dual zone climate control, etc the top-end Titanium variant packs in a lot of kit in the form of electric folding third row seats, interior ambient lighting panoramic sunroof, semi-automatic parallel parking assist, electrochromic rear view mirror, heated side mirrors, automatic head lamps with jet wash, front parking sensors, side and curtain airbags while the 4x4 Titanium gets a driver knee airbag as well.
The new Endeavour is based on the T6 platform and is underpinned by independent front suspension with coil springs and anti-roll bar while at the back there is watts linkage type setup with coil springs and anti-roll bar. The Endeavour is a full fledged seven-seater. With the second and third row seats folded the new Endeavour offers a mega 2,000 litres of space. Ford has attempted to make the vehicle extremely practical with 30 storage spaces strewn around the cabin.
The new Ford Endeavour is available in a choice of six shades - Sunset Red, Golden Bronze, Moondust Silver, Panther Black, Diamond White and Smoke Grey.
While the new Ford Endeavour truly is a well rounded vehicle, what really works for it is its old school butch profile that has been styled with modern lines to give it an unmistakable presence on road.
