Ford flexes its muscles by unveiling the all new 2015 Ford Everest/the Ford Endeavour, which will go on sale next year, in markets like India, China, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa. Expect this 7-seater SUV to be in India by mid 2015.
The new Endeavour looks identical to the Everest concept shown in Sydney last year, except for the wheels which are more realistically designed. It comes with an imposing large chrome hexagonal front grille, new LED daytime running lights and front and rear underbody protection. Ford claims a ground clearance of 225mm and water-wading capability of 800mm. The approach angle is 29-degree and the departure angle is 25-degree.
The new Ford Endeavour will also have some serious off-roading capabilities thanks to the new four-wheel drive system with an active transfer case with Torque on Demand and a Terrain Management System (TMS). TMS has four driving settings— Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock. It changes the vehicle’s throttle and transmission response and adjusts the traction control accordingly to the terrain.
The new Endeavour’s cabin is a lot more spruced up and feels more premium than the current model. It is equipped with SYNC 2 multimedia system with voice command, automatic climate control and the new 8-inch touch screen system with colour-coded corners. Ford also says claims a 2,010 litre boot space with the second and third row seats folded.
The new Endeavour gets an array of safety features like the hill start assist, hill ascent and descent and curve control, lane keeping aid, blind spot information system with cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, roll stability control and ESP.
The SUV will be available with a 3.2 litre 5-cylinder diesel engine, a 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel and a 2.0 litre twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol. We expect only diesel options to come to India.
Ford has confirmed that its new 2015 Ford Endeavour will be manufactured in Thailand for the ASEAN market.
