BMW has launched the new 5 Series in four variants with three engine options to choose from
A lot of luxury car makers have got into the habit of launching the petrol and diesel iterations of the same car at different times, but not BMW. The Munich-based carmaker launched the new-generation 5 Series yesterday, and they brought all the variants. The base 520d and 530i variants are priced at Rs 49.90 lakhs while the top-spec 530d M Sport carries a sticker price of Rs 61.30 lakhs (ex-showroom). Let's find out what each of these variants has to offer.
BMW 520d / 530i Sport Line - Rs 49.90 lakh
The base Sport Line variant of the new 5 Series is the only trim to be available with a petrol as well as diesel engine option. The 520d comes fitted with a 2.0-litre diesel that makes 188bhp and 400Nm. The petrol on the other hand also comes with a 2.0-litre motor but it makes 248bhp and 350Nm.
As far as features go, the Sport Line package comes with LED headlights, fog lights, and Daytime Running Lights. Design features also include illuminated door sills and gloss black finish on the tailpipes. On the inside, the 520d and the 530i come equipped with ambient lighting, climate control, electrically adjustable front seats and steering wheel, sunroof and more. Both these variants get a 12.3-inch infotainment system with BMW Gesture Control and a 12 speak audio system. The screen also displays navigation with 3D maps and has an integrated 20GB hard drive. Both these variants sit on 18-inch double spoke alloy wheels. You can also personalise your 5 Series with three upholstery options and four exterior colour options.
BMW 520d Luxury Line - Rs 53.60 lakhs
Over and above the features offered by the Sport Line, this Luxury Line variant comes with a few additional features. The double spoke alloy wheels are replaced by W-spoke-styled 18-inch ones. Unlike the Sport Line trim, this variant has the front kidney grille as well as the tailpipe finished in chrome. On the inside, the 520d Luxury Line comes equipped with a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon surround sound system, parking assist with remote control parking, 360-degree surround camera, wood interior trim and more. The Luxury Line comes with wireless charging, passenger microphone and two USP ports in the centre console. This variant gets a fine-wood interior option, 6 exterior options to choose from and the choice of leather 'Dakota' ivory while upholstery option.
BMW 530d M Sport - Rs 61.30 lakhs
This is the top-spec variant of the 5 Series and it comes with a larger 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder motor that puts out 261bhp and 620Nm. Just like the rest of the engine variants, this on too comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. But apart from the engine, the 530d comes better equipped than all the other variants. To match the sporty nature of the engine, the M Sport trim comes with high gloss black elements. Other features include comfort head restraints for the driver and the front passenger, rear seat entertainment function with two tiltable 10.2-inch screens with connectivity for MP3 players, gaming consoles, headphones and more. The M Sport comes with lightweight double spoke style 18-inch alloy wheels.
