Three weeks ago, Bentley revealed the facelifted Continental GT, replacing the old turbo-charged W12 engine with the latest performance-focused hybrid V8 engine. While the W12 engine has powered all Continentals since 2003, it will no longer be produced in England as the company's interest is now elsewhere – Beyond100, a strategy outlining a transition to fully electric vehicles by 2030.
Introduced in the new Continental GT Speed, the hybrid V8 setup – referred to as the 'Ultra Performance Hybrid' powertrain – will get another home soon in the upcoming Flying Spur sedan. Yes, that's right! Bentley just teased the new iteration of the Flying Spur, offering us a look at its front end only. Compared to the fourth-generation Continental GT, the 2025 Flying Spur has a double headlamp arrangement. The grille sports a new honeycomb pattern, rather than vertical slits. Other noticeable bits include reworked bumper intakes and an additional ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) sensor.

2025 Bentley Flying Spur: Output
Coming back to the new V8 hybrid powertrain – the most talked about feature, it consists of a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a single electric motor. The setup makes a combined 771bhp and 1000Nm of torque, an increase of 145bhp and 100Nm, respectively, over the discontinued W12-engined Flying Spur Speed. These are the same output figures you find in the Continental GT.
2025 Bentley Flying Spur: Battery
Bentley has yet to reveal the battery specifications of the new Flying Spur; however, there is a possibility that you may find the same 25.9kWh battery pack as the Continental GT Speed, allowing for more than 72km of electric-only range and a combined CO2 figure of under 40g/km. In the Continental GT Speed, the 29.5kWh battery can be charged in 2 hours and 45 minutes using an 11kW charger.
Nevertheless, we know that Bentley's new hybrid V8 powertrain is the most powerful setup to be offered in the upgraded version of the Flying Spur sedan, at launch. That also indicates that the new sedan will be faster than the existing model.

In addition to being offered the most powerful powertrain, the updated Flying Spur will get a revised exhaust note, in which 'a significant amount of development has also been invested' without using any kind of artificial, electronic enhancement. More details will follow in 'due course'.
