Bentley has officially confirmed that its fourth-generation Continental GT will make its debut in June, featuring the new plug-in hybrid 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Last week, the Crewe-based manufacturer revealed its 'Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain' that will replace its famous W12 engine. It has now officially released the first pictures and technical data on the refreshed Conti, which will be the first Bentley to use the brand-new hybrid V8. In terms of looks, the new Continental is likely to maintain the previous model's sophisticated style. Its prototype features an elevated bonnet, wide grille, oval headlamps, slender taillamps with the Bentley logo in the middle, and flared wheel arches. Let's look into the new Bentley Continental GT's specifications in more depth.

New Bentley Continental GT: Powertrain

The most significant change in the new Continental is its powertrain. The fourth-generation Continental GT with a hybrid V8 setup will produce more power (771bhp and 1000Nm) than the previous W12 model, which will be phased out this summer. In addition to this incredible power, the Grand Tourer will have an all-electric range of 80 kilometres and a CO2 figure of fewer than 50g/km. While discussing the model's tremendous improvement in performance, the manufacturer states ‘It will be the most powerful and most dynamically capable Bentley Road car in the company’s 105-year history, and also the most sustainable – whilst retaining the handcrafted luxury and exceptional materials that are synonymous with all Bentleys.’

In terms of performance, the upcoming revised model is expected to outperform the previous Continental GT Speed, although performance figures remain unknown. The old W-12-based coupe had a 0-100km/h sprint time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 335km/h.

New Bentley Continental GT: Other Key Features

The most recent version of the Continental GT will raise the level of sportiness more with features including an electronic limited-slip differential, four-wheel steering, and dynamic all-wheel drive with torque vectoring. In addition, the car will sport advanced dual-valve dampers and active anti-roll control.

The company hasn't disclosed the weight, but it's anticipated that the addition of hybrid components will make the new luxury cruiser heavier than the previous model.
