Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e Hybrid: Exterior and Interior Elements
The plug-in hybrid models take advantage of the advancements introduced to the A3 lineup earlier this year, including a sportier appearance, updated design features, and enhanced digital services. An expanded set of standard features boosts comfort, while customisable daytime running light patterns and flexible options for adding vehicle functions allow for a high degree of personalisation.
As with the rest of the A3 range, the plug-in hybrid is available in Sport, S line, and Black Edition trims. It comes equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, three-zone climate control, the Audi drive select system for dynamic handling, and standard air conditioning. Specialised displays offer detailed information about the powertrain: the redesigned power meter in the Audi virtual cockpit Plus displays the current power output, drive mode, battery status, and available range. The MMI screen also visualises the energy flow within the system.

The new engine upgrade introduces a 1.5-litre TFSI evo2 turbocharged gasoline engine, replacing the previous 1.4-litre TFSI. The electric drive is powered by a permanently excited synchronous motor capable of producing 114bhp and 330Nm of torque. This motor is seamlessly integrated with the six-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic transmission, delivering power solely to the front wheels.
The battery’s gross capacity has grown to 25.7kWh, with a usable net capacity of 19.7kWh. Audi provides two power options for the A3 Sportback TFSI e: the 40 TFSI e variant combines for a total power of 201bhp, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 7.4 seconds and achieving a top speed of 225km/h. The 45 TFSI e version generates 268bhp, reaching 100km/h in 6.3 seconds, with a maximum speed of 237km/h. Both models are limited to an electric-only speed of 140km/h.
Audi A3 Sportback 40 TFSI e Hybrid: Charging Details
Similar to its all-electric counterparts, Audi has equipped the PHEV with regenerative braking, allowing the driver to adjust the level of energy recovery using paddles on the steering wheel. For the first time in one of Audi's plug-in hybrids, DC fast charging is available, offering speeds of up to 50 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. Standard AC charging is also supported, with a capacity of up to 11 kW, completing a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours.
