Hyundai Verna concept breaks cover, or as it is called in the international market, the Accent, at the Auto China Show 2016 in Beijing. Based on the next generation Verna, which is scheduled to make its global debut in 2017, including India, the concept is clearly baptised by the South Korean manufacturer’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.
This Hyundai Verna concept shows that the 2017 Verna will have dollops of attitude. The large in your face front hexagonal grille may remind us of the Elite i20, but it certainly adds more character to its sedan sibling. The long swept headlamps, boomerang shaped fog lamps and LED tail lights give the Verna a lot more contemporary feel. The concept gets aggressive looking new bumpers, but the production version’s should be a lot more subdued.
The Hyundai concept also reveals the sporty design of the new Verna as it gets a slopping roofline that makes it look like a premium notchback or as the German’s call it Sportback. Though Hyundai haven’t mentioned engine specifications, we expect them to retain same 1.4 and 1.6-litre powertrains, both petrol and diesel, which power the current Verna.
The new Hyundai Verna will be a lot more premium than the current generation and will take on its nemesis Honda City, the Maruti Ciaz, the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Rapid.
