The coupe version of the new fifth generation Audi A4 is all set to make its debut on the 2nd of June.
Audi will be taking the wraps off its new A5 Coupe on the 2nd of June 2016 at the company’s Ingolstadt museum in Germany. On this accord the company has released this camouflaged teaser image of the upcoming coupe ahead of its official unveil. The teaser image uses heavy camouflage on the car and its background to conceal the C-pillar, however it can be made out that the Coupe will have a more traditional design that blends a thick C-pillar from the roof to the boot of the car and the rear quarter window appears to be a large unit as well, indicating at a spacious 2+2 seating layout for the car.
This will be the second A5 model to come out of the company’s stables following the original model that was spawned off the fourth generation model in the year 2007.
The new Audi A5 is based on the fifth generation Audi A4 saloon which is underpinned by the Volkswagen group’s MLB Evo platform which is claimed to make the new A4 around 120 kilos lighter than its predecessor. This should add to the A5’s sportier nature further by improving power to weight ratios and handling.
Audi’s new A5 will be powered by the some engines seen in the new B9 Audi A4 such as the 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine with 252 horsepower on tap. There is also a possibility of the 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre TDI diesel engines making it into the car for some markets. Gearbox options will include a six-speed manual and seven-speed S-Tronic unit in international markets. If and when the new Audi A5 makes it to India, we can expect the automatic model to be launched here.
Audi is yet to launch the fifth generation A4 in India, which will happen later in the year.
