Tata will introduce an updated Nexon EV in the Indian market. The new electric compact-SUV will have an increased power output, but most other mechanical bits will be carried over from the outgoing car.
A leaked circular from the transportation department confirms that a more powerful version of the Tata Nexon EV is in the works. The outgoing Tata Nexon EV produces 129bhp of power and 245Nm of torque. The leaked government document states that Tata has bumped up the power of the upcoming 2021 Nexon EV to 136bhp.
Even with increased power output, Tata will continue to offer the Nexon EV with the same battery size of 30.2kWh, which is likely to hamper the overall range of the new Nexon EV.
The current Tata Nexon EV on sale is a quick compact SUV. The new one with an increase in power is likely to offer better performance in terms of acceleration. It remains to be seen if Tata will limit the top speed of the new Nexon EV at a higher mark than the current car's 125km/hr. The feature list and variant breakup are also expected to be carried over. There will likely be a Dark Edition of the new Tata Nexon EV on sale as well.
The pricing of the 2021 Nexon EV is expected to see a hike of approximately Rs 10,000 – 20,000 over that of the outgoing model. The current Tata Nexon EV is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the newer Tata Nexon EV to be launched in India by the festive season.
