Mitsubishi is all set to make world debut of its new compact SUV concept at the Geneva Motor Show. Though the Japanese car maker has only revealed teasers of the concept, the dramatic design and sharpness of this car complements the theme of the 85th International Geneva Motor Show -- A future-oriented attitude: powerful, fast and dynamic.
This new compact SUV will be a plug-in hybrid. According to Mitsubishi, this concept will come with a new eco-performance drivetrain that will feature a high-performance yet efficient plug-in-hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology. The car maker claims the concept has been designed to achieve “best-in-class CO2 emissions performance” thanks to its PHEV powertrain with a high-output electric motor.
In 2013 Tokyo motor show, Mitsubishi had unveiled the compact, five-door crossover, which appeared to be an evolution of the XR-PHEV concept. Based on XR-PHEV, this new concept could be powered by a 100kW 1.1-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 121kW electric motor and a 14kWh lithium-ion battery. It could operate in pure EV mode, as well as parallel and series hybrid modes.
