Expect the Outlander to be priced around the Rs. 28 lakh – 30 lakh mark.
It was in August 2017 that the Outlander appeared on Mitsubishi India’s website along with a ‘coming soon’ tag. Now, the Japanese carmaker has finally opened bookings for the upcoming SUV.
Mitsubishi had previously revealed that the India-spec Outlander will come equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission with a six-step sports mode – which can be operated through steering mounted paddle shifters. The SUV will be available in 7-seater configuration and offered with only a 2.4-litre petrol engine. The company claims that the Outlander can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in 11.1 seconds.
On the equipment front, expect the Outlander to feature an electronic sunroof, keyless entry, auto headlamps, leather upholstery, rain sensing wipers and a 6.1-inch infotainment system paired with 710W 8-channel Rockford sound system. On the safety front, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, airbags and active stability control will be offered.
If memory serves us right, Mitsubishi sold the previous-generation Outlander in India, but it was eventually discontinued due to dwindling sales. The current-gen Outlander globally debuted in 2012 and received a facelift in 2015.
Mitsubishi India has had a rough ride in the past few years, with its model range shrinking and sales dwindling. Currently, the Japanese brand is only surviving on the Pajero Sport – which is due for replacement too – and the rather exorbitantly priced Montero. The Outlander might bring back some required sales numbers for the company.
