Mitsubishi Motors has revealed the all-new D:X Concept, which could be a preview of the carmaker's next-generation Delica van. Showcased at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show 2023, the D:X Concept is a six-seater electrified crossover, featuring the T-shaped front and rear signature lights, 'sturdy over-fenders, large-diameter tyres', a moonroof, sliding doors, a raised suspension setup, and other off-roading credentials. Meanwhile, the side window graphics extending from the front of the cabin to the D-pillar reflects the character of the Delica. Other visual bits on the D:X include thick body cladding around the wheel arches, short overhangs, mud-terrain tires, LED laser projector headlights, as well as front and rear skid plates with side step protectors for 'excellent road performance' under rough conditions.

Mitsubishi D:X Concept: Interior
Based on the "Maximum Space and Safety for Humans, Maximum Off-Roader for Boundaryless Adventure" design concept, the electrified crossover gets a 'monobox' interior design that is said to provide ample room for all passengers. Furthermore, there is a futuristic-looking steering wheel, a digital cluster, a front window & a see-through hood for a wide field of vision, as well as panoramic seats that can move up/down and rotate. The Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium sound system, which is a collaborative effort between Mitsubishi and Yamaha, provides optimum sound quality within the car's interior, while a voice-interactive AI concierge assists occupants with traffic information, weather updates, and more. As mentioned before, the concept comes with a 2+2+2 seating arrangement (six-seater).
Mitsubishi D:X Concept: Powertrain
Under the skin, the Mitsubishi D:X Concept is equipped with the S-AWC (Super - All Wheel Controller) integrated vehicle dynamics control system which is adopted for the electric 4WD system. According to the company, this system provides a safe, secure, and comfortable ride in various weather and road conditions. On offer are different driving modes – EV, Hybrid, and more. Further details on this are awaited.
Along with the new D:X concept, Mitsubishi also showcased a prototype of the all-new Triton pickup truck, scheduled for launch in Japan in early 2024.
