MG Motor India reduced the cost of a few products in the recent past, which include the Hector and the Hector Plus. This time around, the Indian arm of the British manufacturer has announced a substantial price reduction for its electric SUV, the ZS EV. Effective immediately, the electric offering is offered at a new starting price of Rs 22.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG ZS EV can be had in three variants – Excite, Exclusive, and new Exclusive Pro. In July 2023, MG expanded its ZS EV range with the launch of the Exclusive Pro variant, which comes with a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite. This suite consists of 17 ADAS features, such as forward collision warning, speed assist system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot recognition, lane departure warning, and traffic jam assist. The Exclusive Pro version is the fourth sports utility vehicle in MG's lineup to feature the ADAS, after the Gloster, the Hector, and the Astor.

Having said that, the Exclusive Pro has witnessed a price reduction of Rs 2 lakh, while the Exclusive variant of the ZS EV is now cheaper by Rs 2.30 lakh. Additionally, the ZS EV Excite variant has also undergone a price revision – reflecting a decrease of Rs 50,000. Prices of the SUV retail between Rs 22.88 lakh and Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom). MG ZS EV: Engine and Output
Underneath the skin, the MG ZS EV comes equipped with a large 50.3kWh lithium-ion battery mated to an electric motor. The electric powertrain claims 174bhp and 280Nm of peak torque, while the battery offers a maximum driving range of 461 kilometres (claimed). According to MG, the battery fulfills both the UL2580 Safety Management System and the ASIL-D Enhanced Safety Integrity Level standard and has been developed to adhere to IP69K for improved dust and water resistance.
MG ZS EV: Feature List
The electric SUV is kitted out with a segment-leading 10.1-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument panel with a 7.0-inch integrated LCD screen, a segment-first 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors, etc. Over 75 connected car features, including the industry's first digital key that lets you lock, unlock, start, and even drive the vehicle without a physical key, are also on offer.
In terms of safety, the car gets 6 airbags—dual, front, side, and curtain—along with hill-start assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and more.

In terms of market competition, the ZS EV SUV is MG's answer to the likes of the BYD Atto 3, the Hyundai Kona Electric, and more.
