MG Motor India has launched its first all-electric MPV, the Windsor EV, expanding its presence in the growing electric vehicle market and entering the CUV space. The EV is available with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model, similar to a subscription model for the battery pack. The Windsor carries an introductory starting price tag of Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and the customers will have to pay Rs 3.5 per km for the battery pack under the BaaS rental programme. The model will be offered in three variants and four colour options. The vehicle also provides a spacious, comfortable interior with quality materials. Bookings for the car will commence on October 3, with deliveries beginning from October 12. By introducing the Windsor EV, the British automaker aims to tap into India’s increasing demand for electric vehicles.

MG Windsor EV: Styling Cues
The brand-new Windsor EV is essentially a rebadged version of the Wuling Cloud EV, available in several global markets. The former follows the Aero Glide design language. The Windsor looks identical to the Wuling EV and features design elements such as a full-width light bar at the front and the rear, an illuminated MG logo, flush-fitting door handles, a wide-sloped windscreen with a short hood, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and vertically stacked headlamps.
MG Windsor EV: Battery Specs
Coming to the mechanicals, the MG Windsor EV is equipped with a 38kWh lithium-ion battery with prismatic cells. According to the manufacturer, it features an innovative battery management system, which improves the EV's performance. The unit develops 134bhp of maximum power and 220Nm of peak torque. The car can travel 331km on a single charge. The model has 3 years of unlimited km warranty, 3 years of 24x7 roadside assistance, and 3 years of scheduled service with zero labour charges. Besides this, the battery of the EV comes with a lifetime warranty.
MG Windsor EV: Interior and Features
With an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and apps like JioSaavn, the MG Windsor EV offers the largest infotainment system in its segment, measuring 15.6-inch. It also has a comprehensive 360-degree surround-view camera system, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, a four-way electrically adjustable passenger seat, connected car tech, rear AC vents, a 3-passenger rear seat with 3-point seat belts and adjustable headrests, wireless charging, and a backseat, which can recline up to 135 degrees (a feature called aero lounge seats). Notably, the Windsor is the first mass-market model featuring a glass roof. Other features come in the form of 256 multi-colour LED ambient lighting and a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel. The boot space of the vehicle stands at 604 litres.

MG Windsor EV: Safety Features
MG models are renowned for being equipped with an array of cutting-edge technological features, contributing to improving both the active and passive safety of these cars. The safety suite of the EV consists of ABS with EBD, an electronic stability programme (ESP), Hill Hold Assist, an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold function, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) package, which includes features like autonomous emergency braking, autonomous cruise control, and lane departure warning.
With this latest launch, MG India's EV range has expanded to three models: the ZS EV, the Comet EV, and the Windsor EV.
