MG Motor India has confirmed that its popular Hector SUV is now E20 fuel-compliant, meaning it can run on a petrol blend containing 20% ethanol. This ensures the vehicle meets the Indian government's E20 mandate for petrol vehicles manufactured after April 1, 2025. Notably, the Astor SUV from MG’s stable already meets these fuel standards, showing the brand's focus on greener vehicles. This move supports India's ethanol-blending targets and prepares MG's vehicles for a more sustainable automotive future.

Commenting on this achievement, Rakesh Sen, Head of Sales, JSW MG Motor India, said, 'The enduring popularity of the Hector highlights its outstanding quality and an alignment with our customers' needs. The introduction of the E20-compliant version demonstrates in no uncertain terms our commitment to innovation and sustainability in everything we do. We aim to provide vehicles that not only satisfy customer expectations but also play a vital role in fostering a greener automotive future.'

It is worth noting that the E20-compatible Hector will be available in its 1.5-litre petrol engine versions with both manual (MT) and continuously variable transmission (CVT) options. The price of the MG Hector petrol (E20) starts at Rs 13.99 lakh and reaches up to Rs 22.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the diesel variant is priced between Rs 18.58 lakh and Rs 22.57 lakh (All, ex-showroom).

The MG Hector, while now E20-compliant, maintains its powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel unit. The petrol mill generates 141bhp and 250Nm of torque, coupled with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission.

On the other hand, the diesel unit produces a more powerful 168bhp of power and 350Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. The feature list of the SUV includes some notable amenities like a dual-pane sunroof, internet connectivity, 70 connected car features, and a 14-inch Infotainment screen.
