MG Gloster Gets Costlier by Rs 60,000, Base Super Variant Discontinued in India

The 7-seater Sharp variant now commands a starting price of Rs 38.08 lakh, while the 6-seater Savvy trim starts at Rs 39.60 lakh. It is powered by a 2.0-litre, BS6 Phase II-compliant diesel engine.

MG has increased the prices of its cars across the entire ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) range in the country. Speaking of the ICE models, the MG Gloster is now costlier by Rs 60,000. Note that only the Gloster 2WD has undergone a price revision, while its 4WD versions have been kept untouched by the company. The Gloster 4WD is available in two configurations: 6-seater and 7-seater, both of these can be had at the same price, which is Rs 42.38 lakh. In related news, the company has discontinued the entry-level 'Super' variant of the Gloster SUV in India. As of now, the Gloster is offered only in two trims - Savvy and Sharp, which is now the new base variant. The 7-seater Gloster Sharp variant now commands a starting price of Rs 38.08 lakh, while the 6-seater Savvy trim starts at Rs 39.60 lakh. Prices are ex-showroom.

MG Gloster: Powertrain & Performance

Under the hood, the MG Gloster receives a BS6 Phase II-compliant diesel engine. Its 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, diesel engine is offered in 2 states of tune - a turbo-diesel version and a twin-turbo unit. The 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine is capable of producing 161bhp of maximum power and 375Nm of peak torque, while the twin-turbo engine churns out 215bhp and 480Nm. For transmission, the SUV uses an 8-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.

MG Gloster: Features

On the feature front, the Gloster comes packed with a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated front seats, a 12-way power driver seat with massaging function, and an ADAS safety system. It also has a 12.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

MG Astor SUV: Revised Prices  

MG Astor, among other models, has also been affected by the latest price hike. It is offered in two petrol engine options spread across 5 variants. Post the price hike, the Astor SUV ranges between Rs 10.82 lakh and Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of the Hyundai Creta as well as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
