MG Motor India has revealed the Comet, its small electric vehicle for the Indian market, ahead of its expected launch in a few days. In the brand's electric lineup, the model will sit below the ZS EV.
The second all-electric vehicle for the Indian market has been unveiled by MG Motor India ahead of its launch later this month. With the debut of the Comet EV, the British auto manufacturer is now entering a new small electric vehicle segment after rolling out its first electric vehicle, the ZS EV, in January 2020. For the uninitiated, the new EV is manufactured on SAIC's Global Small Electric Vehicle (GSEV) platform and is based on the Wuling Air EV, which is currently available in the Indonesian market. The MG Comet EV has a number of high-end features in terms of styling, including split headlamps, LED elements that span the width of the car, eye-catching alloy wheels, a tall C-Pillar, and a dual-tone paint job. Here's everything you need to know about the brand-new Comet EV in terms of its specifications, design, features, rivals, and more.

MG Comet EV: Interior Features
The compact EV will be packed with features inside, just like other MG models. It will have telescoping steering wheel adjustability, manual air conditioning with rotary dials, and two 10.25-inch touchscreen displays for the infotainment system and the driver's display. To further ensure the safety of passengers, standard features include a rear parking camera, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control (ESC).
MG Comet EV: Design
In essence, the Wuling Air EV has been rebranded as the MG Comet EV. Despite having toy-car-like proportions, the tall design ensures enough room for all passengers. In terms of dimensions, the MG Comet EV measures 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width, 1,640mm in height, and 2,010mm in wheelbase. A benefit of driving on congested streets or parking in small spaces is the vehicle's small turning radius of 4.2 metres.
The front grille of the MG Comet EV is closed, and it has a full-width LED strip, stylish headlamps, and a noticeable bumper. Large doors, sporty alloy wheels, and a flat back end are all highlights of this vehicle. The MG Comet EV is offered in a selection of 4 exciting colour options. These are Flex (red), Beach Bay (blue), Sundowner (orange), and Serenity (green). As seen in the official brochure, MG offers Sticker styles and Lit packs to give your Comet EV a trendy look.
MG Comet EV: Battery and Range Details
According to MG, the 7.3kWh lithium-ion battery powering the Comet EV gives it a range of 230 kilometre on a single full charge. The Comet EV is propelled by a rear-axle-mounted electric motor with a maximum torque output of 110Nm and 41bhp of peak power. The battery can be fully charged in about 7 hours using a 3.3 kW AC charger. Further, a 16 AMP outlet can be used to charge the MG Comet EV at home as well.
