MG India will soon launch its petrol-powered ZS. The new mid-sized SUV has been dubbed the Astor and an official price announcement of the SUV is likely to happen around the festive season.
MG India’s next big launch is the Astor mid-sized SUV. The Astor is essentially an internal combustion engine-powered MG ZS. The brand plans to take on the likes of the Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun with its new MG Astor.
The Astor is expected to make its India debut by October 2021, but prior to its launch, MG has revealed a few details about the new mid-size SUV. The 10.1-inch infotainment screen will be a standard offering across all variants of the MG Astor. Further, the brand confirms that Apple Carplay, Android Auto, smartphone mirroring and Jio Saavan will be offered as standard features as well.
Other features in the MG Astor will include personal AI assistance that will be a first-in-segment. The AI can be used to access a few features of the MG Astor via voice command. The MG Astor will also be the first SUV to feature level two autonomous driving in the segment.
Expect creature comforts to be at par with the segment, along with a feature list that will directly compete with the Creta and the Seltos's feature list.
MG has not revealed the powertrain options yet, but the Astor is likely to get the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor from the Hector. Expect the same CVT unit to be offered in the MG Astor alongside a standard six-speed manual transmission. It is uncertain at the moment if the MG Astor will get a diesel powertrain option or not.
The complete unveiling is expected by next month and an official price announcement will follow soon. The pricing of the MG Astor could start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) giving it an edge in the value-for-money proposition,
