The upcoming new concept vehicle by Mercedes is said to be based on the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept.
German carmaker Mercedes has dropped a teaser video of an upcoming concept vehicle to be showcased at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
While the teaser video hardly reveals any technical aspect of the upcoming vehicle - the short glimpses of the vehicle seen in the video strikingly resemble the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept (pictured above) - which was unveiled in August 2016. The teaser video itself is titled as ‘The next Vision arises’. Therefore, it is very likely that Mercedes will will showcase either an updated, or a slightly different version of the Vision 6 concept. Many rumours are pointing towards a drop top.
Since Mercedes resurrected the Maybach brand in 2015 as Mercedes-Maybach - the brand has only been producing extravagant versions of the existing Mercedes vehicles. The Vision 6 is expected to be the first bespoke car under the Maybach umbrella.
Unveiled at last year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a striking 2+2 seater which measures almost 6 metres in length. According to Mercedes, this concept pays homage to the age of the aero coupés as it reinterprets classic design principles in an extremely futuristic way. The long bonnet, the low roofline and the rearward positioning of the greenhouse, everything makes this bold coupe stand out from the crowd.
Despite its stunning design, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is a true EV - it generates about 740bhp equivalent from its four permanent magnet synchronous electric motors and 80 kWh battery pack. This ensures that this luxurious coupe dismisses the 0-100km/h sprint in under 4 seconds, and won’t break much of a sweat before reaching its (electronically limited) top-speed of 250km/h.
