Mercedes-Maybach S 650 shows its dark side in the new 'Night Edition'. The special edition of the Luxo-barge will be available in very limited numbers, as only 15 cars will be made!
While the whole world is eagerly waiting for the arrival of the all-new seventh-gen Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the company’s ultra-luxury arm, Mercedes-Maybach, is busy making the current-gen S-Class even more special. And the result of their efforts is the new S 650 Night Edition.
For the most part, the Night Edition is mechanically identical to the ‘regular’ S 650 Maybach. However, since the production is limited to just 15 units, and it has ‘Night’ in its name, the Luxo-barge comes with some 'dark' design updates so as to set it apart. Key highlights of the Night Edition include a carbon fibre trim in the front and rear of the vehicle, smoked 20-inch Maybach forged wheels and a carbon rear spoiler. And, of course, the exterior comes finished in obsidian black paint. Inside, it’s loaded to the gills with features, just like the standard S 650 Maybach. However, this version gets special Nappa leather upholstery in porcelain and black, matched by Night Edition leather floor mats and a trunk mat in black with porcelain edges. There are Night Edition badges on front fenders and interior trim, too.
Propelling the Night Edition will be the same 6.0-litre V12 Biturbo monster that powers the regular S 650. This engine develops 621bhp and 1,000Nm of torque! Mercedes-Maybach claims that 0 – 100km/h can be clocked in just 4.6 seconds!
In terms of features and equipment, the Night Edition gets everything from Mercedes' 'Magic Body Control' to executive rear seats with a 43-degree recline angle and power calf rests. Put simply, you get all the luxuries here as you would in a normal S 650 Maybach.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Night Edition is priced at $242,950 (Rs 1.83 crore, before taxes!). Its competition includes the likes of Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost.
