Mercedes-Benz GLS with Maybach genes is all set to debut in the Indian market. The GLS 600 will be the second Mercedes-Maybach offering following the S-Class
The super-luxury Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic will make its India debut on June 8 and will influence the buyers of Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography, Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Cullinan with an ex-showroom cost expected to be close to the Rs 2.25-2.45 crore mark.
Martin Schwenk, CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, confirmed the news earlier this week when the top boss was addressing the media and giving a run-through of the German giant’s plans for the second half of 2021.
For the 2021 calendar year, Mercedes-Benz India plans to launch 15 new products out of which A-CLass Limousine, GLA, and the E-Class LWB – along with their AMG counterparts – have already made their appearance in Mercedes-Benz Showrooms. The flagship SUV will join the list soon.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic made its international debut in late 2019 and the SUV was offered with four or a five-seat configuration. While the five-seat Mercedes-Maybach GLS offers a bench seat at the rear accommodating three passengers, the four-seat variant offers recliner chairs – with massaging functions – in the second row. A fixed center console runs between the recliners that have an integrated refrigerator for your champagne bottles, along with silver champagne flutes.
Speaking of the cabin, the interiors are woven in Nappa leather, and the centre console houses a tablet to control the car’s multimedia system. In addition to the infotainment screen, passengers in the rear get two individual screens mounted on the headrest of the front seats. Other features include a panoramic sunroof with roller blinds, a four-zone climate control, Burmester stereo system and many more.
The 4.0-litre V8 is coupled with a 48-volt mild-hybrid motor that adds a to the total power output. Combined power is rated at 542 bhp and 730 Nm of torque that’s forwarded to all the four wheels via a nine-speed gearbox – coupled with an all-wheel-drive system.
