Mercedes Benz revealed the smallest SUV in its line-up - the GLA. Placed just below the GLK, the Mercedes will unveil the car and its future plans at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September.
The GLA will be based on the same MFA (Mercedes' front wheel drive architecture) platform as the A-Class. The GLA is 4417 mm long and boasts of a 421 litre boot space which can be extended to 836 litres.
Mercedes will pack the GLA with the 1.6 and 2.0 litre petrol options that deliver 153bhp and 208bhp respectively. Then there are the diesel options and the GLA 200 CDI will churn out a hefty 134bhp and 300Nm torque while the 220 CDI will develop 167bhp and 350Nm of torque.
Mercedes has also given the GLA the optional 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will also come with the the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system, featuring fully variable torque distribution.While the interiors are similar to the A-class, the roof rails and the skid plates and majorly it's stance make the GLA stand out amongst others.
The GLA will hit the UK in 2014 and we can expect the car in India in the latter half of 2014 or early 2015.
