Mercedes Benz India today launched the latest generation of the Mercedes GL SUV in India. The vehicle was launched by German tennis legend Boris Becker who was personally present at the launch.

The new Mercedes GL features a host of new equipment as standard fitment including Active Park Assist, COMAND system with built-in Navigation, Panoramic sunroof, and a unique 360-degree surround view camera which assists in parking and keeping an eye on the surroundings of the car.

The initial version available will be the Launch Edition which will be equipped with an AMG body styling kit, 21" wheels, Designo edition leather and temperature controlled cup holders to keep your drink cool or hot according to the user's preference. However, only  100 units of this version will be available.

Power in the 350 CDI model is up 34 bhp to 258 bhp while it produces a 619 Nm of torque.

The pricing for the Launch edition of the car is 77.5 Lakhs ex-showroom. Interestingly, India is only the second country in the world after the US where the GL is produced locally. Local production of the GL is expected to start in September, so the initial units sold in India will be CBU's.
