Mercedes-Benz India has launched a new range-topping variant of its luxury people carrier, called the V-Class Elite (V 220d). It's been launched with a steep price tag of ₹ 1.1 crore and is based on the facelifted V-Class that made its international debut in April 2019. For those not aware, Mercedes-Benz India had launched the V-Class (pre-facelift) back in January, with prices starting at ₹ 68.4 lakh for the base V 220d Expression trim (seven-seater Extra Long Wheelbase version) and ₹ 81.9 lakh for the higher-spec V 220d Exclusive trim (six-seater Long Wheelbase version). The V 220d Elite will also be available in the same configuration as the Exclusive trim. (All prices are ex-showroom).

The most significant change on the V-Class Elite is that it is powered by a 2.0-litre BS-VI compliant OM 654 series diesel engine, with power & torque output rated at 161bhp & 380Nm. This motor is mated to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The V 220d Expression & Exclusive, in comparison, are powered by the older-gen 2.2-litre OM 651 series diesel motor mated to the 7G-Tronic gearbox. Both motors, however, are BS-VI compliant and have the same power & torque figures.

Exterior changes on the V-Class Elite remain concentrated to the front fascia, which features a revised bumper design, a larger air dam, revised LED headlamp design & a new hexagonal mesh twin-louvre grille. Further, customers can choose from seven colour options & three wheel designs (available in 17-inch or 18-inch sizes). Inside, the dashboard gets a new trim, features the latest turbine-style AC vents and a bigger infotainment screen.
