The next-gen Mercedes-Benz GLC will feature a new design language, more tech, and new powertrains.
The GLC is one of Mercedes-Benz’s most popular models not just in India but also worldwide. Since we’re being introduced to a new generation of Mercs across the range, it's the GLC's turn on June 1. Thanks to a new platform, tech updates, and electrified powertrains, the next-gen GLC will be a big upgrade over the current one.
Underpinning the new GLC will be the same platform as that of the new C-Class, with which it will also share its powertrains. This means that in India, we could get the GLC in 200 petrol, 220d diesel, and 300d diesel guise – all of them will come with 48-volt mild-hybrid tech.
The new platform also means that the new GLC will be bigger than the outgoing one, similar to what we saw in the case of the W206 C-Class. This could allow engineers to free up more legroom in the second row and, perhaps, give the new GLC a larger boot too.
Inside, the new GLC will get a new infotainment system running MBUX, perhaps with a portrait-style screen, as we have seen with the C-Class and S-Class. And if the similarities with the C-Class continue, you can also expect the new GLC to have a better quality of materials overall.
The new GLC might also look different from the current one and adopt the more curvaceous design language of the new Mercs. We won’t have to wait too long to find out though, given that the global unveil is slated for June 1. Its India launch could be announced soon after.
