Mercedes-Benz is bringing the refreshed and rechristened SLC to India in full bore SLC 43 AMG spec.
Mercedes-Benz India will be bringing in the successor of the SLK model into India on the 26th of July 2016. The SLC is a refreshed version of the most recent SLK featuring a face-lift in terms of revised styling, new front and rear bumpers, head lamps and tail lamps and a few other details. It’s the same story inside the car as well with a new steering wheel, infotainment screen, etc.
The model debuting for the SLC in India will be the top of the line performance oriented SLC 43 AMG version that is powered by a 3.0 litre Biturbo V6 petrol engine developing 356bhp of max power and 520Nm of peak torque. The car has a top speed of 250 km/h and a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds
This refreshed SLK has been renamed as the SLC as part of Mercedes’ new naming nomenclature, signifying that it is the convertible equivalent of the C-Class model. SLK originally stood for Sporty, Light and Short in German. The SLC is otherwise based on the same R172 platform which underpinned its predecessor and has been doing so since the third generation model came into production in 2011.
The new Mercedes-Benz SLC is available internationally with a choice of four engine options and two gearboxes. Three of them are petrol models. The entry level model has a 1.6 litre four cylinder engine in the 180 model, the SLC 200 has a 2.0 litre four cylinder engine with 178bhp while the more powerful SLC 300 model comes with 237bhp on tap. Then there is the aforementioned flagship AMG SLC 43 variant. The fourth engine is a 2.1 litre four cylinder diesel mill in the SLC 250d with 198bhp.
