Mercedes-Benz SL Monogram Maybach to Mark India Debut on March 17
Mercedes-Benz has refined the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine powering the Maybach SL 680, even though its performance figures remain unchanged at 577bhp and 800Nm.

Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce the opulent SL Monogram Maybach in India on March 17. This exclusive convertible blends high-performance engineering with the luxury craftsmanship synonymous with the Maybach name. Built on the SL platform, the vehicle features refined aesthetics, including signature Maybach design elements, premium materials, and state-of-the-art technology. Under the hood, it will house a powerful 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine paired with advanced drivetrain systems for a dynamic driving experience. The cabin promises superior comfort with bespoke design touches, cutting-edge infotainment, and advanced driver-assistance systems. Positioned as a top-tier luxury convertible, the SL Monogram Maybach is anticipated to rival models such as the Bentley Continental GT Convertible and Aston Martin DB12 Volante in the Indian market.
Mercedes-Benz SL Monogram Maybach: Styling Cues

The Maybach SL 680 is a reimagined version of the SL 63 Roadster, infused with signature Maybach design upgrades. Up front, it features a sophisticated illuminated grille with vertical chrome-accented slats, delivering a commanding presence. The Obsidian Black bonnet, embellished with Maybach badges, seamlessly transitions into the soft-top roof, while the rest of the body is painted in a striking Garnet Red.

On the sides, it sports exclusive Maybach multi-spoke alloy wheels, paired with black-coloured wing mirrors. The rear bumper adopts a cleaner, more refined look with chrome detailing for an elevated design.

Mercedes-Benz has made significant updates to the 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 unit in the Maybach SL 680, though it continues to produce 577bhp of maximum power and 800Nm of peak torque. The model also retains standard rear-axle steering. Transmission duties are handled by a nine-speed automatic transmission powering all four wheels.
With a refined power delivery, the car reaches from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds – 0.5 seconds slower than the AMG SL 63. The top speed is electronically limited to 260km/h, compared to 315km/h on the AMG. Additional changes include a retuned suspension, a redesigned exhaust system, and enhanced cabin insulation.

Inside, the SL 680 sports white Nappa leather upholstery, covering both the seats and dashboard. The latter adorns a sizable 11.9-inch vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen, paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other interior elements comprise a refined satin silver detailing on the air vents, a distinctive Maybach branding on the roll hoops, as well as a revamped three-spoke steering wheel.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the German luxury automaker will reveal the pricing for the model on March 17. That said, the SL Monogram Maybach is anticipated to carry an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 3 crore.
