Mercedes-Benz has launched the updated Maybach GLS 600 and the AMG S 63 E Performance in the Indian market. The 2024 Maybach GLS 600 is priced at Rs 3.35 crore. Meanwhile, the AMG S-Class will initially be offered in the limited-run Edition 1 trim, priced at Rs 3.80 crore. It will eventually be succeeded by the standard model, which costs Rs 3.30 crore. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. In terms of market competition, the Maybach GLS takes on high-end SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga and Range Rover. Since neither Audi nor BMW sells performance-oriented versions of their ICE A8 and 7-Series vehicles in India, the AMG S-class has no direct competitors. Read on to know more.

2024 Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS 600
The luxury carmaker has made several minor cosmetic changes to the Maybach GLS in comparison to the outgoing model, including a redesigned grille, updated front and rear bumpers, and reworked tail lights. Although the standard SUV is equipped with the same 22-inch wheels as the previous-gen model, buyers have the option to upgrade to new 23-inch wheels.
The GLS 600's 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 550bhp and 730Nm of torque, is carried over from the outgoing model. A nine-speed automatic transmission distributes power to each of the four axles.
Inside, the cosmetic modifications include a new design steering wheel and fresh wood trim inlays. In terms of features, the base of the centre console has new 100W USB power outlets. The revamped model is available for sale in a five- or four-seater configuration, with the latter having a full-length floor console that houses the central tablet for controlling in-car amenities. Furthermore, the rear seats have heating and ventilation functions and can recline to a maximum of 43.5 degrees.
Prospective customers will have access to an extensive array of options, including interior upholstery and themes, alloy wheels, paint jobs, and new features. The standard amenities of the 2024 Maybach GLS 600 comprise adaptive air suspension, a 360-degree camera, adaptive LED headlamps, multi-zone climate controls, automatic sunblinds, power-adjustable seats with memory function, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).

Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance
On the visual front, the AMG Panamericana grille, angular bumpers, larger alloy wheels, and a quad-tip exhaust at the back are all part of the car's sportier external package. Additional stylistic elements available with the Edition 1 models consist of matte-black alloy wheels, red brake callipers, an Edition 1 branded car cover, and the AMG Night Package or blacked-out exterior trim. It is anticipated that some of these bits will be offered as options on the standard S 63.
The AMG S 63 E Performance is powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, found on several Mercedes-AMG cars. But in this case, it's paired with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which increases the overall power and torque output to 791bhp and 1,430Nm, respectively. The top speed of the S 63 E-Performance is limited to 250km/h, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds. Owners have seven drive modes to choose from. An electric-only driving distance of up to 33 km can be achieved with the PHEV system's 13.1kWh battery pack.
The AMG-specific adjustable air suspension system for the performance luxury sedan lowers the vehicle by 10mm while travelling at speeds above 120km/h. The Edition 1 comes equipped with standard elements like rear-wheel steering and all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.
All the standard S-class features are present inside the model, but they are enhanced by a more vivid colour scheme. The updated interior components come in the form of AMG-specific infotainment touchscreen software, AMG Exclusive Nappa leather, an AMG steering wheel, carbon fibre trim, and AMG illuminated tread plates.
