Mercedes-Benz extended its SLC range by launching the entry-level SLC 180 AMG in the UK. This new roadster’s price starts from £32,039, roughly Rs 27 lakh (excluding import duties and additional taxes, of course). Mercedes-Benz has also decided to pull the plug on the Sport version of all SLC models, making the AMG line the only option.
The SLC 180 AMG is powered by a turbo-charged 1.6-litre petrol engine with 156 ponies and it sprints from 0-100km in 7.9 seconds. Its top speed is 225kmph. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new SLC can deliver 20.7kpl on a combined urban-highway run.
The SLC AMG is available in both manual transmission, which is standard on the entry-level version, and a 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. It comes standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, Artico seats, active brake assist, cruise control, air conditioning, sports suspension and a sports braking system.
Even though Mercedes-Benz has not mentioned when they plan to launch the new SLC 180 AMG in India, the big brother SLC 43 AMG powered by 362bhp 3-litre V6 is certainly available here, which we took to the flat tarmac roads of Nahan in Himachal Pradesh.
