Mercedes calls the GLS Grand Edition the ‘S-Class of SUVs’.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced a special variant of its GLS SUV, dubbed Grand Edition. This special edition variant will be available in both GLS 400 and GLS 350 d models.
The Grand Edition adds a few special touches to the standard GLS, however, all changes remain purely cosmetic in nature. This means that no mechanical changes have been made to the SUV. The exterior of the Grand Edition sports standard LED Intelligent Light System with black rings, bespoke 10-spoke alloy wheels painted in high-gloss finish, ‘Grand Edition’ exterior badges and chrome fins on the bonnet.
The interior of this big 7-seat SUV has three upholstery options – Artico man-made leather black, Artico man-made leather espresso brown (available with white exterior only) and Artico man-made leather ginger beige/espresso brown. Also, customers can choose between two trims – light aluminium trim with longitudinal grain (available with espresso brown interior only) or open-pore brown ash wood.
Mercedes is also offering service packages on the GLS Grand Edition. The Compact Packages for the GLS 400 start at Rs. 75,000 and for the GLS 350 d at Rs. 1.04 lakh for two years. These new standard packages are offered with unlimited mileage – a first in the luxury car segment, claims Merc – and covers maintenance related jobs. These customer focused packages offer various options and flexibility and can last up to 10 years from the date of sale.
The Merc GLS 350 d comes with a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel engine, producing 254bhp of max power and 620Nm of peak torque, whereas the GLS 400 features a V6 petrol engine that delivers 328bhp and 480Nm. Both models carry the same price tag of Rs. 86.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
