Mercedes-Benz has revealed the G-Class Edition Stronger Than The 1980s, an exclusive off-roader, with a production run of 460 units. The special version draws heavily from the iconic 280 GE, blending classic aesthetics with contemporary features. It stands out with retro-inspired paint options and exclusive design touches that reflect the rugged spirit of the G-Class’s rugged legacy. The special edition is priced from €160,055 (approximately Rs 1.56 crore) and is available for order in the global market. As of now, its launch in India remains unconfirmed. Let’s take a closer look at its design.
The Mercedes-Benz limited-run G-Class Edition, offered in G 450 d and G 500 variants, merges contemporary technology and comfort with design elements reminiscent of the 1980s. A standout feature of this edition is its throwback colour palette, featuring three Manufaktur solid paints that helped define the early G-Class image—agave green, cream, and Colorado beige. Each shade carries its own legacy, creating a strong visual link to the G-Class's iconic beginnings while wrapped in a modern package.

This edition features orange turn signals and a night black magno finish on the front, grille, bumpers, arches, and mirrors, reminiscent of the 80s G-Class. The classic 5-spoke alloy wheels and black underbody protection further enhance the throwback appeal.
Adding to the nostalgia, the edition features a classic Mercedes-Benz star mounted on the hood, evoking the original G-Class look. It has an authentic silver badge from the 1980s on the rear door and a specially designed spare wheel cover.

Inside, the G-Class Edition sports dove grey fabric inserts on black leather seats, a popular 80s style. The passenger grab handle is engraved with "Stronger Than The 1980s," while the door sills have the topography of Schockl mountain, the iconic testing ground for the G-Class.
A vintage 'Schockl Proved' badge with a classic G-model in the car’s colour sits on the B-pillar. The ‘1 of 460’ plaque further highlights the edition's exclusivity. On the tech front, the cabin is equipped with a Nappa leather steering wheel, a glass sunroof, and a Burmester sound system.
