Just a few hours ago, Mercedes India launched two new cars on Indian soil; the soft top E-Class Cabriolet and the 204bhp diesel engined CLS 250 Coupe.

Mercedes-Benz India just jazzed up its existing portfolio by adding two new stars in its lineup. The new E-Class Cabriolet is the soft top version of its existing model which has a mighty six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 333bhp of maximum power. The car adds more bling to the highly successful E-Class by providing a soft top which can be folded or unfolded completely in just 20 seconds even when the vehicle is moving. To avoid water from seeping in, there is an integrated drainage channel in the outer side edges. The E-Class Cabriolet has been priced Rs. 78.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be available in India as a CBU (Completely Built unit).

Commenting on the E-Class Cabriolet, Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Three words sum up the E-Class Cabriolet: captivating, athletic, passionate. This sensational Cabriolet, with many innovative appointments, offers first-class comfort for four occupants with ample space. With its striking design features, state-of-the-art product innovations, safety and assistance systems, the E-Class Cabriolet becomes a truly aspirational car. This Cabriolet is a perfect synthesis of design and engineering excellence, and the refinement achieved by this design whets the appetite for long trips – be on winding routes or wide tree-lined roads. With its many unique features, the E-Class Cabriolet has once again secured its unparalleled dominance in the competitive environment.”

The second addition is the CLS 250 CDI Coupe which is propelled by a new and efficient diesel engine. The car is aimed at extending the German carmaker’s portfolio of exclusive lifestyle vehicles. The car has the right amount of new-age design, luxury and innovative technology. The key highlight, however, is the Multibeam LED light system which controls 24 out of 36 LEDs in the car individually. This in turn increases the visibility in a wide range of situations without troubling the oncoming traffic. Another function known as Active Light illuminates the bend before the steering wheel is turned and prior to leaving the bend again. The car has been priced at Rs. 76.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will also reach the Indian shore via the CBU route.

"The CLS Coupé has always been a design icon on wheels. Its exciting design and thrilling proportions have been subtly adapted and we are confident that this will once again set the customers’ pulse racing. The CLS Coupé makes trips most pleasurable with its extensive range of standard equipment and appointments, including a 20.3 cm display and new interior colour schemes which create special surroundings for special moments. The new high-tech additions such as the innovative MULTIBEAM LED headlamps also give the car a technological leadership position,” Mr. Kern said about the car.

With these new launches, Mercedes-Benz India has launched five new cars in the Indian market in the first three months of the year. This is in sync with the ’15 in 15’ strategy that Mercedes has opted for the Indian market for the year 2015.
