Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will launch the standard EQS electric SUV in India on September 16, 2024. This comes after the introduction of the Maybach EQS (Rs 2.25 crore) in our market last week. The standard EQS will be the German automaker's sixth electric car in India, following the EQS Limousine, EQE SUV, EQA, EQB, and the Maybach EQS SUV. It will sit between the EQE and the newly released Maybach EQS 680 in the range. Now that the launch is fast approaching, let's explore the features of Mercedes-Benz's newest e-SUV.

Mercedes-Benz EQS: Exterior and Interior
The electric SUV looks similar to other EQ vehicles, with sharp LED headlamps, a blanked-out black panel grille, and a horizontal LED light strip across the front edge. Compared to the Maybach EQS, it features unique alloy wheels, slender LED taillights with an LED light bar, tweaked bumpers, and less chrome, particularly on the front end.
Inside, the EQS SUV will probably sport a large single-piece panel in the cabin called the MBUX Hyperscreen, which combines the instrument cluster, centre touchscreen, and co-driver display. It could also have three rows of seats and an optional head-up display with augmented reality navigation.
Mercedes-Benz EQS: Powertrain
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is offered in three variants on the international market: EQS 450+ (RWD), EQS 450 4Matic (AWD), and EQS 580 4Matic (AWD). Although there isn't any official confirmation, the German automaker will likely introduce the top-of-the-line 580 4Matic model in India, which has a dual motor drivetrain with 536bhp and 858Nm. The motors come mated to a 108.4 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 609 kilometres.
