After the successful EQC and the recent introduction of the EQA, Mercedes-Benz has now announced the unveiling of the EQS. Unlike the former crossovers, EQS is a luxury sedan from Mercedes-Benz that takes a dig at Tesla Model S. Most of the details have been kept under wraps but Mercedes-Benz claims the EQS will have a range of 700km (according to WLTP). A thorough unveiling has been scheduled for April 15, 2021, and the manufacturer confirms that the EQS will hit the market by August - International markets first. Mercedes-Benz will also offer unique charging solutions. The EQS can be charged without additional authentication and the mode of payment will be the Mercedes ME smartphone app.
Going by the success rate of the Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 in India, the German marquee could bring in the EQA, all-electric crossover first, and the EQS all-electric sedan in India. A Mercedes-Benz EQE, all-electric sedan positioned in the company’s E-Class vertical is in the pipeline as well, and it has been confirmed that the EQE will be launched in the international markets by September 2021.
The EQS will be the first all-electric production sedan by the manufacturer and it could determine the design language that the later cars could follow. However, expect the luxury saloon to be on the lines of the 2021 S-Class in regard to features.
