Mercedes-Benz India is getting ready to launch two new models on January 9, 2025, and one of them is the G-Class electric (or the G580 with the EQ tech) expected to be priced around the Rs 3 (ex-showroom) crore mark. It will have a four-motor, all-wheel-drive setup making a combined 579bhp and 1,164Nm. The other will be the 5-seat EQS 450 SUV, the second variant to join the EQS lineup after the seven-seat EQS 580 4Matic. Powering the EQS 450 will be a 122kWh lithium-ion battery pack that powers the EQS 580. For context, the EQS 580 gets two electric motors on each axle, enabling an all-wheel drive and a combined 536bhp and 858Nm. Per the German manufacturer, the model has a top speed of 210km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds.
Coming back to the EQS 450, the 122kWh battery pack – boasting a larger cell capacity than the EQA and EQE SUVs – can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent with a 200kW DC charger in 31 minutes. The EQS 450 will be Mercedes-Benz's locally assembled EV and should be priced competitively.
