A few days ago, Mercedes-Benz introduced the EQA, its most reasonably priced electric SUV, in India. The model carries an introductory price tag of Rs 66 lakh (ex-showroom). The EQA 250+, an electrified derivative of the GLA, is the only fully loaded variant available in the country. After the EQB, EQE, and EQS, the EQA is the three-pointed star brand's fourth battery electric vehicle (BEV) to arrive here. Reservations for the car are underway, and deliveries will likely commence by the end of this year or the beginning of 2025. Here, we have compared the brand-new EQA with one of its biggest rivals, the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

Mercedes-Benz EQA vs Volvo XC40 Recharge: Price
The newly launched Mercedes-Benz EQA 250+ costs Rs 66 lakh, while the XC40 Recharge costs Rs 54.95 lakh for the single-motor variant with a 2WD setup and Rs 57.90 lakh for the dual-motor Ultimate variant with AWD. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.
Mercedes-Benz EQA vs Volvo XC40 Recharge: Powertrain Options
The new Mercedes-Benz features an electric drivetrain, with the electric motor located on the front axle, and a 70.5kWh battery. The setup generates 188bhp of maximum power and 385Nm of peak torque and offers a driving range of 560km, as certified by WLTP. In terms of performance, the EQA can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 160km/h.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge's single-motor variant is powered by just one electric motor, which produces 236bhp and 420Nm, and a 69kWh battery. It has a WLTP-certified range of 475km. The Swedish automaker claims that the Volvo XC40 Recharge Single Variant can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 180km/h. The Ultimate variant, on the other hand, features a larger 78kWh battery pack, which powers two electric motors. It generates 660Nm of peak torque and 402bhp of maximum power. According to the manufacturer, the dual-motor variant can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

The EQA 250+ is 4,463mm long, 1,834mm wide, and 1,624mm tall and has a wheelbase and a luggage compartment capacity of 2,729mm and 340 litres, respectively. Meanwhile, the luxury Volvo sedan measures 4,440mm in length, 1,873mm in width, and 1,651mm in height. It features a 2,702mm wheelbase.

Mercedes-Benz EQA vs Volvo XC40 Recharge: Features
The EQA gets several features of its elder sibling, such as a 12-speaker Burmester sound system, a new AMG steering wheel, dual-zone climate controls, adaptive cruise control, adaptive high-beam assist, active steering assist, multicoloured ambient lighting, adaptive cruise control, speed limit assist, emergency brake assist, blind spot monitoring, and an anti-theft system. It also has augmented reality navigation, a 360-degree camera, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring the most recent version of the MBUX.
The Volvo XC40 Recharge, on the other hand, has many features that come standard, including wireless phone charging, an air purifier, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay support, a powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control.
