As part of its launch plan for the remaining half of 2024, Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it will launch two new vehicles on August 8, namely the CLE Cabriolet and the GLC 43 4Matic Coupe. The former will be the all-new convertible for India, while the latter will mark the comeback of the coupe SUV to the company's India lineup. Both models will be brought in as completely built units (CBU).

The CLE Cabriolet made a global debut in July 2023, after the reveal of the CLE Coupe. Upon launch in India, the new CLE will join the E53 Cabriolet and the SL 55 Roadster as the third convertible in the lineup. While the global market offers both coupe and convertible models, India will only get the convertible version of the CLE. Touted as the biggest car in the segment, the CLE Cabriolet is expected to come either in 300 4Matic or 450 4Matic form.

If so, the India-spec Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet will get either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine or a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol engine under the hood. The smaller petrol engine makes 254bhp in the global-spec CLE 300 4Matic, while the larger one belts out 375bhp in the CLE 450 4Matic. The overseas model is also available in the CLE 200 and CLE 200d variants. Expect the pricing to be more than Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom, India).

Overseas, the powertrain setup also includes 48V mild-hybrid tech and a 9-speed torque converter automatic. Based on the company's Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, the CLE Cabriolet shares design cues with the outgoing E-Class, including an electrically folding fabric roof, long bonnet, and big grille, although LED DRLs are its own. Inside, the car resembles the existing C-Class, which features an 11.9-inch portrait-style infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 2+2 seating layout.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic: Here's What to Expect

Mercedes AMG GLC 43 4Matic

As for the GLC 43 4Matic, Mercedes-AMG offers a coupe-like roofline, an AMG-specific front grille, revised bumpers, up to 21-inch alloy wheels, and a pronounced rear diffuser with a quad exhaust setup. The AMG treatment can be seen on the inside too, with a steering wheel, pedals, floor mats, as well as infotainment and instrument displays.

Unveiled in September 2023, the new GLC 43 Coupe also offers a hybrid punch. Powering the global-spec GLC 43 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with mild-hybrid tech. The setup develops 415bhp and 500Nm of torque, resulting in a claimed 0–100km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds before topping out at 250km/h. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Also available is rear-wheel steering, along with speed-sensing steering and adjustable suspension dampers.
