Priced at Rs 1.3 crore, the Mercedes C63 S AMG is the flagship version of the C-Class that will take on the BMW M4. Its 4.0 litre turbocharged V8 develops 510 hp of max power and 700Nm of peak torque.

Mercedes-Benz has taken its performance quotient up in India with the introduction of the C63 S AMG. In line with its 15 in 15 strategy (15 launches in 2015), the C63 S AMG is a halo model for the brand as a successor to the previous legendary C63 AMG model.

The new model is powered by the company’s equally new 4.0 litre twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine that develops 510 hp between 5,500 - 6,250 rpm and 700Nm of torque between 1,750 - 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox with five driving modes, featuring paddle shifters and tip tronic function. The transmission also has a race mode for the sharpest gear changes. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an electronic limited slip differential.

The end result is 0-100 km/h time of 4.0 seconds while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. You can however, opt for the AMG driver’s package that will give you a derestricted top speed of 290 km/h. And with the lethal AMG soundtrack with the performance exhaust system, the new Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG will provide a drive experience second to none.

The Mercedes C63 S AMG is underpinned by a four-link front suspension and a multi-link setup at the rear. To provide the best handling traits in varying conditions, the C63 S features adaptive dampers. Speaking of handling, the C63 S comes with three settings for its stability programme that packs in a Sport handling mode for the best times, while it can also be switched off entirely for some flamboyant driving.

Even the engine mounts have modes to suit the ride for comfort or performance. The car has a track slightly wider than that of the standard C-Class model to provide handling that can compliment the car’s added firepower. The front wheels are shod with 255/40 R18 tyres while at the back there is 19 inch 255/35 profile rubber.

The Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.3 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG S takes on the BMW M4 as its primary rival.
