Mercedes-Benz won three awards – World Car of the Year 2015, World Luxury Car 2015 and World Performance Car 2015 – at the World Car Awards 2015.
Yesterday, we had posted about Mercedes-Benz being the first luxury carmaker to cross the 11,000 sales mark in a financial year in India. Well, it seems that Mercedes-Benz is doing everything right to keep the competition fuming. Globally. Also, for the first time in the history of World Car Awards, one manufacturer had its presence in all the five categories.
The World Car of the Year – Mercedes-Benz C-Class – defeated the Ford Mustang and Volkswagen Passat to claim the top spot. The top three were selected from a pool of 12 cars at the Geneva Auto Show held in March this year.
Commenting on the success of the C-Class, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said, “The C-Class is a bestseller that has always been a trendsetter in the premium medium-size category. This is true for the new C-Class as well. It comes to the starting line with qualities usually reserved for higher-class automobiles – ecologically, technically and also with regard to comfort and driving pleasure. It embodies what we understand modern automotive luxury made by Mercedes-Benz to be and has all the prerequisites to be a huge success. Accordingly we are extremely delighted of winning the honour of World Car of the Year.”
The World Car Awards are undoubtedly the most prestigious automotive awards across the globe as 75 jurors from 22 countries try to reach a common verdict which makes the winner free from any doubt or unfair benefit.
