Expect Mercedes-Benz to bring in the A-Class Limousine with three powertrain options. Bookings for the sedan have already commenced, and the launch is expected soon after the lockdown lifts
Mercedes-Benz revealed the A-Class Limousine to the Indian press and public at the Auto Expo 2020 in February. Bookings of the car commenced at the end of February, which demanded a minimum amount of Rs 2 lakh. Now, the German carmaker has revealed variant details of their upcoming entry-level sedan. The A-Class Limousine will be launched in three powertrain options – a petrol, diesel, and more powerful AMG-spec petrol.
The petrol-powered A-Class sedan will wear an A200 badge and will be powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged unit that makes 161bhp and 250Nm. The diesel, on the other hand, will draw 114 horses and 260Nm from a 1.5-litre unit. Both engine options will come paired to a 7-speed DCT. Just like the CLA before it, the top-spec A-Class Limousine will be sold in the AMG trim. This one will produce 300bhp and 400Nm from a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit.
Like most other Mercedes models on sale, the A-Class Limousine also looks the part. It has a sporty silhouette with a somewhat long bonnet at the front and a relatively stubby boot. The standard trim gets a single-slat diamond grille at the front, while the A35 has been fitted with the AMG-spec twin-slat one. Standard features across all variants include LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, and reversing camera. Inside, the A-Class Limousine comes with an electrically adjustable front seat with memory function, wireless charging, Mercedes’ latest MBUX infotainment system with smartphone integration, dual-zone climate control, and more.
When launched, the A-Class Limousine will be on sale in five exterior colour options and four interior trims. The A-Class Limousine will be launched in India as a replacement to the CLA. Expect it to be priced around Rs 35 lakh. It will lock horns with the likes of the Audi A3.
