As a replacement to the CLA, Mercedes-Benz will soon bring in the new A-Class Limousine to India. Will be on sale in petrol, diesel and AMG trims. Bookings commenced
We have known for a while that Mercedes-Benz is about to replace the CLA with the A-Class Limousine. In fact, the luxury carmaker even gave us the first glimpse of the car at the Auto Expo 2020 earlier this month. With the car scheduled to be launched some time in June, bookings have commenced already.
Just like the CLA, Mercedes-Benz will bring the A-Class Limousine to India, in petrol, diesel and AMG variants. The petrol-powered A200 makes 161bhp and 250Nm while the A180d badged diesel produces 114bhp and 260Nm. Both the engines come paired with a 7-speed DCT. Just like the CLA, Mercedes-Benz will also offer an A-Class Limousine in the AMG trim. Needless to say, with the 300 horses and 400Nm that it produces, the Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic will be the quickest of the A-Class offerings. Mercedes claims that the A35 can do the 0-100km/h dash in just 4.8 seconds and has a top-speed of 250km/h.
Coming to the real reason why Mercedes-Benz has chosen to replace the CLA with the A-Class Limousine. The CLA’s coupe styling makes the rear bench a little cramped for room, a feeling that gets further enhanced as a lot of people buying into the luxury space are often chauffeur driven. The A-Class Limousine with slightly more space seemed like the more sensible choice to make.
Just like all newer Mercedes-Benz cars, the A-Class Limousine will also feature the brand’s new MBUX infotainment system. Other highlight features include LED headlamps, reversing camera, panoramic sunroof, all-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function.
Mercedes-Benz will bring the A-Class sedan to India with five exterior and five interior options to choose from. When Mercedes-Benz brings in the A-Class Limousine to India, it will compete against the likes of the Audi A3. Expected to be priced in the Rs 32-40 lakh range, it will also find itself amongst cars like the Skoda Superb, Volkswagen Passat and others.
